Using the droplet system

Another factor to consider when selecting an incontinence product is the absorbency of the product. Absorbency is the amount of urine the incontinence product is able to absorb and retain without leakage. The absorbency of the product should be suitable for the level of incontinence experienced.

In order to help you make an appropriate choice of product, incontinence products usually make use of droplet scales or a drop system. so that customers can easily identify the absorbency in a range of products. The more droplets that are filled, the more absorbent the product. It should be noted that different product brands do not use the same drop system, so looking at the same number of drops on two brands may not indicate the same absorbency. For example, 4 drops on a 4 drop scale may indicate a much higher absorbency than 4 drops on an 6 drop scale.

Need help choosing the right product?

Clemens™ products use a 4 droplet scale as follows:

Clemens™ products with 1 or 2 droplets out of 4 are suitable for light incontinence, while 3 out of 4 droplets identifies products that are suitable for moderate incontinence. When all 4 droplets are coloured, then the product is suitable for severe incontinence.
